In 1886, several families met for worship in the home of a Christian (living in Radnor Township) because traveling was too difficult to regularly attend Philadelphia Baptist Churches.  This small group held regular services in the various homes of it members until they acquired the use of a building.  The building was located on Conestoga Road in Wayne on the premise of the Rock Quarry, owned by R. H. Johnson.  On behalf of some of his employees, he donated the use of this tenant building here they worshiped for over 2 years.  As a result of prayers, perseverance, and prudence this assemblage purchased their first building (a residence on Highland Avenue at Federal Street, Wayne).  The complete renovation from a house to a church building was accomplished.  The innovative ideas of the members over the next 10 years brought about structural improvements, increased membership, and spiritual growth.  By 1900, this congregation (formed in Wayne to worship Almighty God) desired to be incorporated according to the faith, doctrine, discipline and usage of the Baptist Church.  Under the counseling of Zion Baptist Church, Philadelphia, they then applied to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and received their Charter on June 8, 1900.  The subscribers of this Charter were Horace Chandler of Radnor, John Ford of Wayne, Silas Frazier of Berwyn, Fenton Cranchall and Louis Brown of Wayne.
